Space is the New Speed: Why the Dassault Falcon 10X Changes the Game

For years, the ultra-long-range private jet market has been defined by a fierce numbers game. How far can you fly? How fast can you get there? While those metrics still matter, the reality of 15-hour flights has shifted the focus of luxury travel toward a different priority: breathing room. Dassault Aviation’s newly rolled-out flagship, the Falcon 10X, is a direct answer to that shift. Unveiled at its Bordeaux-Mérignac facility ahead of its flight test campaign, the 10X is a clean-sheet design aimed squarely at the top-tier territory currently dominated by Bombardier’s Global series and Gulfstream’s G700/G800.

But instead of just matching the competition, Dassault chose to out-size them.

Redefining the Cabin Cross-Section

The headline feature of the Dassault Falcon 10X is its physical footprint. Dassault has engineered the widest and tallest purpose-built business jet cabin in aviation history.

  • Width: 9 feet 1 inch (2.77 m)

  • Height: 6 feet 8 inches (2.03 m)

To put that into perspective, the 10X cabin is wider and taller than some regional commercial airliners. It breaks the traditional "tube" feeling of private jets, allowing for modular, apartment-style zoning. You can configure it with an expanded master suite featuring a full-size queen bed, a dedicated conference/dining area, or a media lounge.

When you are flying a nonstop leg of 7,500 nautical miles—say, New York to Shanghai or Los Angeles to Sydney—those extra inches of shoulder room and headroom drastically reduce travel fatigue.

Military DNA in the Dassault Falcon 10X Cockpit

Dassault has always had a distinct advantage over its competitors: it builds fighter jets. The same engineers designing the Rafale multi-role fighter are responsible for the Falcon line, and that military heritage is deeply embedded in the 10X.

The aircraft features a high-aspect-ratio carbon fiber wing designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency and a smoother ride through turbulence. In the cockpit, the next-generation NeXus flight deck introduces a single-lever smart throttle that combines engine and flight control logic.

Most notably, it includes a military-grade automatic recovery mode. If the aircraft encounters severe wake turbulence or pilot disorientation occurs, a single button press instantly levels the wings and stabilizes the jet at a safe altitude and airspeed.

What This Means for BJETS Clients

At BJETS, our commitment has always been about delivering optimal lift for the mission. The entry of the Falcon 10X into the global fleet represents a massive win for charter clients.

  1. True Global Reach: With a top speed of Mach 0.925 and a 7,500-nm range, it connects virtually any two global financial hubs without refueling.

  2. Elevated Marketplace Standards: The arrival of the 10X pushes the entire industry forward. It forces competitors to innovate on cabin pressure, acoustic dampening, and interior space, raising the baseline of luxury across the board.

  3. Enhanced Sustainability: Powered by bespoke Rolls-Royce Pearl 10X engines, the aircraft is designed from day one to be 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) compatible, aligning with the evolving ESG targets of modern corporate flight departments.

The Timeline Ahead

With the first structural prototype officially rolled out and moving into intensive flight testing, Dassault is entering the final stretch of certification. While initial deliveries are projected toward the later part of the decade, the 10X is already disrupting buyer psychology today.

Space is no longer a luxury afterthought—it is the central metric of modern flight. And right now, the Falcon 10X owns the tape measure.
